To create a sustainable package, Display Pack's design team examines every aspect of your package, ending up with the most sustainable option that still meets your performance requirements. Balance is critical to a successful sustainable package. To create the right package, we ask the right questions then design towards sustainable packaging based upon both the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Guidelines. In addition, Display Pack adheres to Wal-Marts 7 R's of Sustainability

• Materials - safe, healthy, and sourced responsibly
• Miles Traveled - locally sourced when possible, Display Pack’s single source strategy reduces transportation costs and GHG emissions
• Package to Product ratio - reduce excessive use of packaging, increasing # of units per shipment which equals less shipments and lower costs
• Performance - packaging needs to meet performance requirements
• Regulation - comply with current regulations and anticipate change
• Cost - a sustainable package needs to be economically feasible for the customer
• Reuse - give life to the package beyond its initial purpose
• Recycle - use materials with an increased post consumer recycled content
• Recovery - design for ease of recycling and energy recovery
• Renewable - use renewable energy wherever possible

SPC & EPA Sustainable Packaging Definitions

The Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) defines Sustainable Packaging as:

• Beneficial, safe and healthy for individuals and communities throughout its lifecycle;

• Able to meet market criteria for performance and cost;

• Sourced, manufactured, transported and recycled using renewable energy;

• Able to maximize the use of renewable or recycled source materials;

• Manufactured using clean production technologies and best practices;

• Made from materials healthy in all probable end-of-life scenarios;

• Physically designed to optimize materials and energy;

• Effectively recovered and utilized in biological and/or industrial cradle-to-cradle cycles.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identifies sustainable packaging through principles of product stewardship

Closed Loop Recycling

• Display Pack maintains a closed loop recycling system with our RPET & RPETG supplier. This allows us to keep track of the quality of our recycled materials.

Grind Machines

• We currently have multiple grinders in-house, adding efficiency to our recycling process
• The smaller pieces allow us to ship more re-grind per pallet, in turn saving fuel consumption
